Online therapy
What is online therapy?
Online therapy, also known virtual or remote therapy, involves speaking with a therapist via a secure video platform. These sessions work in much the same way as traditional face-to-face therapy, with the same standards of professionalism, care, and confidentiality. You will have the opportunity to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, talk through your concerns, and work collaboratively on goals that matter to you - all from the comfort of your chosen space.
What you can expect
Sessions are held via a secure video platform, typically weekly, and last 50 minutes. You don’t need any specialist software – just a stable internet connection, a private space, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Many clients find that online therapy feels just as personal and effective as face-to-face work. In fact, being in your own familiar environment can often help you feel more relaxed and open, which can support the therapeutic process.
Confidentiality and Security
Your privacy and confidentiality are incredibly important to me. I use encrypted, secure video platforms (e.g., Zoom and Microsoft Teams) to ensure that our sessions are safe and protected. I also adhere to the professional and ethical standards set out by the relevant regulatory bodies, and I am always happy to answer any questions you might have about how your information is handled.
The Benefits of Online Therapy
There are many advantages to choosing online therapy, including:
Flexibility: Schedule sessions around work, family, or other commitments without needing to travel.
Accessibility: Receive support from anywhere in the UK, especially helpful if you live in a rural area or have limited access to local services.
Comfort: Speak from a familiar space, which can help you feel more relaxed and open during sessions.
Consistency: Continue sessions even when you're travelling (within the UK), moving home, or facing disruptions to routine.
Privacy: No need to visit a clinic — online therapy can offer a more discreet option for those who value anonymity.
